Automatic Air Ambient Monitoring System at Noida

Ecotech of Australia and Envirotech together installed the Continuous Ambient air Quality monitoring Station (CAAQMS), funded by UPPCB (Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board). It provides real-time air quality based on 12 parameters.

The major causes for air pollution in the city are 8000 industrial units, 6 sewage treatment plants and several hundreds of on-going reality projects. By installing automatic Air Quality monitoring system, now the state can monitor the real-time air quality. Previously there were no facility like this to get the real time data regarding the pollution.

This automatic system will continuously display the pollution levels and this data depends on 12 parameters such as particulate matter, NO2, SO2, CO2 etc. The chief scientist of Central Road Research Institute (CRRI) Anuradha Shukla, stated that population growth and urbanization, number of vehicles has increased contributing to the increased pollution. The particulate matter concentration in vehicular emission is 5 to 10 times higher than the ambient air. The air pollution in urban areas is the 13th major reason for deaths worldwide. A study states that over 1.1 million premature deaths occur due to air pollution.
